Ode to women's labor, 157x71 cm
Textiles: cross-stitching. Technique: embroidery floss
An “Ode to women's labor“, hidden from the public eye, unnoticed. Everything should just be done, and done well. Maintaining the household, giving birth, feeding and raising children - this is not "work", it is not "labor", it is in-between, unnoticed, in the second shift, does not require praise. Just like cross-stitch embroidery is an occupation of the hands and free time, not art. The importance of processes vital for the survival of mankind and society is levelled by this very society, ignored, put out of brackets. But we must remember that these self-evident actions are the fabric of life.
This project is a big team effort. Each participant made a small contribution to a big cause. Every little stitch was important, because without it the whole would not take shape. And so it is in life, all the small and imperceptible actions allow something bigger to happen.
